James Morton's Porkchop - Don't You Worry 'Bout That
James Morton’s Porkchop is a grooving firework! James Morton played with funk-legend Pee Wee Ellis and Andy Shepperd, Tony Allen, Fred Wesley, Wynton Marsalis, Billy Cobham, Snowboy or Pendulum’s SLAM. With his alto-saxophone and his band Porkchop Morton is taking clubs and festivals by storm. Whether it is the huge Glastonbury Festival or a small jazzclub, he still gets everyone dancing. In the UK his first album has become a funk/soul classic already. Since David Sanborn or Maceo Parker you haven’d heard a unique saxophone voice like this. He can be a soulful storyteller and a loud carnival barker. Morton’s roots lay in soul-jazz like Cannonball Adderley and Hank Crawford as well as the early Crusaders. Mixing heavy Hammond B3 organ funk of the 60’s with soul-jazz, gospel and James Brown, Porkchop is Dan Moore (hammond organ), Ian Mathews (drums) and Deny Illet (guitar).
“A big fat funky record!“ - Mojo Magazine, UK.
